Government Action Plans

Action Plan Overview

There is no comprehensive national action plan for human trafficking. Government actions focus more on sex workers than on prosecuting traffickers.

Prostitution was declared illegal in September 1997 by the Taipei City Council resulting in 128 prostitutes losing their legal status.

Five hundred forty-four former child prostitutes accepted therapy from the Taipei City government between 1989 and October 1997. Thirty percent were under 15 years of age.
