The American Center for International Labor Solidarity (Solidarity Center) and its various partners will hold a national project consultation meeting on Friday, December 8.

Dubbed as "Strengthening the Enabling Environment to Improve Response to TIP and Related Cases (STEER)," the activity is a follow-up initiative funded from a grant provided by the US Department of State, G/TIP (USDOS) that will build on earlier local and national initiatives in the fight against trafficking by strengthening the enabling environment and improving the implementation of the country's anti-trafficking legislation.

Trade Union Congress of the Philippines Deputy General Secretary Cedric Bagtas said the activity will be held at Richmonde Hotel, Ortigas Center, Pasig City from 9:00 to 5:00 pm.

The activity according to Bagtas is also a good opportunity to present and discuss the terms and references of STEER Project in which the group is expected to review and validate the project's draft workplan/performance indicators, share developments in agencies' current anti-trafficking interventions, programs, activities and explore further areas of cooperation among participating groups/government agencies in implementing the series of activities.

They will also review the previous projects and accomplishments of USAID/Solidarity Center Anti-Trafficking Project2.

Some 30 participants composed of government advocates, women's groups, youth partners and representatives from government agencies and local government units in NCR, Bataan, Laguna, Cavite, Subic and selected areas in Visayas and Mindanao are expected to attend the activity.
