Activities

ECPAT is a global network of organisations and individuals working together for the elimination of child prostitution, child pornography and the trafficking of children for sexual purposes.

ECPAT NZ (End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography, Child Sex Tourism and Trafficking in Children for sexual purposes) is the only organisation in New Zealand whose sole focus is to address the issue of the commercial sexual exploitation of children (CSEC). They  focus on five strategic areas to ensure that children are protected both nationally and internationally from:

  • Child prostitution
  • Child pornography (particularly on the Internet)
  • Child sex tourism
  • Trafficking of children for sexual purposes
  • Internet risks

ECPAT New Zealand works to ensure that children are protected both nationally and internationally against commercial sexual exploitation. The Ministry of Justice presented the NZ Plan of Action Against the Commercial Exploitation of Children at the second World Congress at Yokohama in 2001 listing ECPAT NZ as the only agency carrying out research in child prostitution.

Research/Publications:  "The Involvement of Children in Commercial Sexual Activity", 2004 and "Exiting Commercial Sexual Acitivity", 2004.  Further ECAPT New Zealand  publications.

ECPAT NZ accepts both donations and volunteers
